Little Vocations of Life

Video Description:

After years of searching for answers, Caleb finally decided to answer a call he felt from God. When trying to discover his vocation in life, he noticed he was being called to Peru. While in Peru, he experienced what it was like to live in poverty for five months in a local community. During this time he tried to understand God’s purpose for him and for the rest of his life– not only the big vocations like priesthood or marriage, but the small ones as well.

Filmmaker Bio: I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin and always was confused when people wanted me to pursue a certain occupation. Once I was in high school I started going on small mission trips in the diocese and learning about serving others. During this time, a priest told me about a mission trip he had gone on in South America and it started to interest me. It was four years ago that this calling started. After completely forgeting about it, I suddenly got a strong calling in the summer of 2011 to get up and do something. With the support of my family and community, I raised enough money to go to Piura, Peru, to do mission work for 5 months in 2012. I left right after Christmas and asked my high school for permission to graduate early. The time in Peru helped me better understand what God is calling each one of us to do. I searched for years for the simplest of answers, and found it in the most simplest of places.

YOUCAT/Catechism Inspiration: The purpose of my film is to understand not only my vocation, but the small ones that help us in our everyday life. The vocations of life are what I focus on in the film.

A wonderful testimonial to missionary zeal. CRS might want some clips. Many will be lifted up spiritually by traveling to Peru, via youtube, to a place where love and faith are living in ways we may have forgotten.

I liked the music in the background. I felt it added to the film. I LOVED the questions that were asked. They were thought provoking, and led the viewer to think about his/her own story and can help the viewer discern his/her own vocation – little vocations. Thoughtful video.

Having a personal story is very touching. Did you write the music? Very commendable! God bless.

Well done and inspirational! I like how you captured the joy in the people both in your culture and in their culture. You are changing lives by living out your vocation, whether that be in big things or even the small things which you definitely captured. Keep up the good work!

It’s the little things, true! What a great testimony to people, personal vocation, and primarily to love. The laughter of the children was uplifting.
