Finding Rest

Video Description:

“Finding Rest” is a video that is a personal reflection about prayer. Inspired by St. Augustine’s theology and experiencing God’s love through my own trials allowed me to understand how great our God truly is. And it is through prayer that one can find rest and reflect on how one is being a reflection of God’s love in the world of today.

Great use of the Hawaii scenery! Perhaps playing with the color a little would make it even more beautiful.

Finding Rest uses the vehicle of first person narrative to tell the story of one young woman’s journey from light through darkness and rediscovery of light in prayer. Well done visual images portray the woung woman wrapped in the beauty of nature exteriorly and the beauty of God within. A compelling portrait.

This is a very sweet and very personal story. I think the choice to focus on emotion rather than specific events (i.e., not getting into precisely what the valley was) was a good one, and carried the story along. My main suggestion would be to consider using free-form dialogue (by recording a conversation or interview) rather than having a scripted delivery. I think it would have sounded more natural and could have enhanced the impact of the storytelling. A very good effort overall.

“Finding rest” is a powerful metaphor for the experience of grace. Noelani lives in the space the psalmist knows: “My soul be at rest in God alone, from whom comes my hope”. Ps 62:6

    Thanks for sharing!
