Filmmaker Bio:
I am a practicing Catholic with a background in media production and Youth Ministry. My dream in life is to own and operate a Catholic Media Production Company.
Cast and Crew:
I did the animation, story, script, editing, music and audio for this video. My wife helped a bit with the voice over and some of the script ideas!
YOUCAT/Catechism Inspiration:
YOUCAT ‘158’ – “What is Heaven?”
YOUCAT ‘162’ – “What is Hell?”
I love that you used the stick figures also depicted in the YOUCAT itself. You also cover important territory–especially why we have something such as the YOUCAT–in an engaging, humorous and relevant way. I would love to see you take on other issues covered in the YOUCAT with such creativity and orthodoxy. Well done!
Overall, I like the presentation from an animation and professional and hip look. I don’t think death is a major concern for most young adults and I think if you would approach this subject, you should do it in a more straightforward manner. The theme of “love or no love” is a bit blah and not something I would think could cause a young person to seriously consider the “Four Last Things” I understand it is a challenge to meet young people on their level but I think you should challenge them and uplift the Church and Our Lady and especially Jesus to the highest ideals so that a young person would strive to live their life in a manner that ensures an eternity in heaven. Finally, I hope the film maker takes this in a positive, constructive manner. I like the way it is put together and I think the animation is great and would engage a young adult. But, I think you should combine that with something more substantial to get your audience to truly consider death and their eternity. It’s a difficult proposition.

I really enjoyed this. It had me smiling (loved the stick figures) and the topic cut right to the chase. So often in our society we dance around or water down the truth. I think our youth are hungry for the truth and are not afraid to hear it, especially when it’s couched in hope. There’s no more explicit truth than the fact that we are going to die, and what we do here counts toward where we’ll end up. You’ve accomplished that in this video but in a way that isn’t too heavy handed or judging. Thank you!
