The Rosary
Video Description:
This is a documentary-style short video about what the Holy Rosary is, what it means to Catholics, why we think it is not only a method of prayer, but also the most effective tool and a weapon in our spiritual life. The video explains why Catholics do not worship Mary, as some people may think. The video shows mostly young adults and their views, opinions, feelings and love for the Rosary and for praying the Rosary.
Contest: 2013 Goodness Reigns “Share the Story”

Filmmaker Age: 25
Video Length: 6 min 59 sec
Filmmaker Bio:
I came to the United States two years ago to study filmmaking. In Poland, where I come from, I was a sound engineer in a public radio station. I decided to move because of my family and because of love for filmmaking, which I could not study in Poland. Currently I study as a film major at Austin Community College, and in the Fall 2013 semester I will be transferring to the University of Texas to continue my education.
YOUCAT/Catechism Inspiration:
The most inspiring part of the YOUCAT for me is Chapter 3, “The Life of Prayer” and its subsection, “Meditation.” I was praying about what video I should make, what topic to choose and who to ask to help me. There are not many videos about the Rosary, praying the Rosary and also defending us, Catholics, about accusations that we worship the Blessed Mother, Mary. I feel, as a young adult, that we, especially youth and young adults, have to stand up to protect our faith, our freedom and life.
You answer such important and fundamental questions about the rosary in this film. It will be an important resource long after the contest is over. I plan to share it with many because it addresses both the theological underpinnings of the rosary, misconceptions and the beauty of this powerful tool of our faith. Thank you for contributing to this ministry!
A wonderful message and very well done!

Best explanation of the Rosary. Example: “As Mary teaches us about her Son,” scene where a mother says about her child who is present, “I can teach him things no one else knows.” Dispels the impression by non-Catholics that the Rosary is chant or mantra. It is 20% about Mary, and 80 percent about Jesus. As a life-long Catholic in my senior years, I was captivated. Splendid film.
