Great article Bekita! I can't believe you didn't tell me about this even though. Sounded like a good one! I like the part about being the salt of the earth and the light of the world and being a beacon of light to steal away the darkness. What great word imagery used there. I hope and pray I could learn to wake up everyday with these words in mind.

1. 4022 in Canada, 13644 in United States, and 5593 in Mexico.

2. He was locked up with a prostitue hired to seduce him into sexual impurity. Instead of giving in to her advances he grabbed a torch and "chaste" her around the room until they finally let her out. Then as a reward from God an angel appeared and gave him a confute to tie around his waste and was no longer to be bothered with things of lust. Which could help explain his smarts. Sins of the flesh result in a darkening of the intellect and weakening of the will.

3. St. Thomas was given an ecstatic experience... A foretaste of the heavenly Glory and compared to even the greatest Theologian of all time it was but straw... Words cannot even express the sublime sublimity of our God!

4. Paul, used Saul and Paul interchangeably according to his audience and location. He must be all things to all people. He used Paul with te Greeks and Saul with the Hebrews. Its the same name... Kinda like a guy named John might go by Juan when he is in Mexico.

5. A woman does have the right over her own body. She has the right to avoid the sexual act if she doesn't want a baby. The sexual act is baby making... When she has a baby that baby is no longer her own body but a new human life destined for eternal glory, but utterly dependent on his mother for survival. I would challenge any woman who denies this to get an ultra sound to see what she sees... Herself?? How many heartbeats are there??? Just hers?? No.

In cases of rape as sad as it is... It's a terrible terrible terrible crime... A woman dies inside when she is rapped... But God can bring a miracle out of a tragedy... Adding murder to a rape is not the solution. It's the easy way out, but Christ shows us how to overcome this grave evil.... Assume the sins... Take the cross upon your own human body and if you do... God will turn this cross into the glory of his ressurection.

It is her own body up until their is anybody inside of her. Get an ultra sound please, it will be free... Make sure... Don't rush into this.... If you hve already had an abortion and this is why you are so upset... There is freedom from this terrible burden... No human words can make this better... But words do exist that will heal the hurt and turn hell on Earth into peace... "I absolve you... In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

1a: The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception celebrates Our Lady’s Birth without the stain of Original Sin.
1b. Holy Days of Obligation are days (besides Sunday) in which Catholics are required to go to Mass. They are usually on a Saints feast Day. They vary from country to country.
1c. Mary, Mother of God (Jan 1); the Ascension; the Assumption of Mary (Aug 15); All Saints (Nov 1); the Immaculate Conception (Dec 8); and Christmas (Dec 25).
Whenever January 1, the solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, or August 15, the solemnity of the Assumption, or November 1, the solemnity of All Saints, falls on a Saturday or on a Monday, the obligation to attend Mass is lifted

2. Our Lady of Guadalupe is called the Protectress of the Unborn because she is one of the few visions of Mary in which Mary is pregnant with Jesus. An interesting fact about the image of Mary on the Tilma: In Mary’s eyes there are the images of Bishop Zumarraga, his interpreter, Juan Diego and several family members reflected. They images are even reflected with natural distortion!
3. Advent is where we await the coming of Christ. Unlike what most non-believers think, we are not waiting for the Birth of Christ, an event of the past (although Advent is a time where we meditate and remember that event), we are waiting for the Second Coming. Advent is a time so that we may spiritually prepare for the Second Coming.
4. Francis Xavier is the patron saint of World Youth Day, he has a feast day on December 13th. He went to several countries as a missionary, including India, China, and Japan.
5. Octave means “eight” and it comes from the Latin. The practice of octaves was first introduced under Constantine I, when the dedication festivities of the basilicas at Jerusalem and Tyre, Lebanon were observed for eight days. After these one-off occasions, annual liturgical feasts began to be dignified with an octave. The first such feasts were Easter, Pentecost, and, in the East, EpiphanyThis occurred in the fourth century and served as a period of time for the newly baptized to take a joyful retreat. After 1568, when Pope Pius V reduced the number of octaves, they were still numerous. Not only on the eighth day from the feast but on all the intervening days, the liturgy was the same as on the feast itself, with exactly the same prayers and Scripture readings. Octaves were classified into several types. Easter and Pentecost had "specially privileged" octaves, during which no other feast whatsoever could be celebrated. Christmas, Epiphany, and Corpus Christi had "privileged" octaves, during which certain highly ranked feasts might be celebrated. The octaves of other feasts allowed even more feasts to be celebrated. Pope Pius XII simplified the calendar with a decree dated 23 March 1955: only the octaves of Christmas, Easter and Pentecost were kept. All other octaves in the Roman Rite were suppressed, including those in local calendars. In 1969 the Roman Catholic Church further revised the Roman Calendar by removing the octave of Pentecost
6. The word epiphany means a moment of great or sudden revelation. Jesus was given three gifts:
Gold, because He is the King of kings. (Kings usually were they few that had mass amounts of Gold)
Frankincense, because He is the Priest or priests. (Frankincense was a expensive type on incense used by the high priest to raise prayers up to God)
Myrrh, because He is the Great Sacrifice. (Myrrh was used for embalming dead bodies in those days.
